Mechatronics Engineer
Job Summary ​ We are seeking a talented Mechatronics Engineer to join ERGONIC’s engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement integrated systems combining mechanical, electrical, and software components for our next-generation automation projects. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions that drive efficiency and innovation. This is a 4 month contract that can extend depending on circumstances determined by ERGONIC. Key Responsibilities ​ -Design and develop mechatronic systems, including robotics, automated machinery, and control systems. -Integrate mechanical components, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems to create reliable and efficient solutions. -Develop and test control algorithms using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, Arduino, or embedded C. -Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration. -Conduct prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting to optimize system performance. -Document designs, test results, and technical specifications for project stakeholders. -Stay updated on emerging technologies in mechatronics, automation, and robotics. Qualifications Required ​ -Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. -3+ years of experience in mechatronics, robotics, or automation system design. -Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino) for mechanical design. -Experience with PCB design (Altium, Eagle) and embedded systems programming (e.g., C, C++, Python). -Knowledge of control systems and sensor integration (e.g., PID controllers, PLCs). -Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Preferred ​ -Master’s degree in Mechatronics or a related discipline. -Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics frameworks. -Familiarity with industrial automation standards and protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN). -Hands-on experience with prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining). -Knowledge of IoT integration or machine learning for automation systems. Architectural Technologist
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and driven Architectural Technologist to join ERGONIC’s architecture and engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development of permit-ready drawing sets, ensuring alignment with zoning bylaws, building codes, and the technical realities of fabrication and construction. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and external consultants to create precise, buildable solutions. This is a 4 month contract that can extend depending on circumstances determined by ERGONIC. Key Responsibilities -Prepare accurate, permit-ready drawing sets in compliance with applicable building codes and municipal zoning bylaws. -Develop site plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, and construction details with a focus on technical clarity and compliance. -Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code (Part 9 – Housing and Small Buildings) in practical design applications. -Coordinate across disciplines to support integrated design and construction documentation. -Communicate with municipal offices regarding zoning checks, approvals, and revisions. -Revise drawings and details based on feedback from clients, consultants, or authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs). -Maintain thorough documentation of drawing sets, code references, and zoning conditions. Qualifications Required -Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture/Civil Engineering or a related field. -2+ years of experience in architectural documentation and permitting. -Proven ability to interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code. -Working knowledge of zoning bylaws across municipalities in Ontario. -Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or Rhino. -Detail-oriented with strong technical drafting and coordination skills. -Self-motivated and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Preferred -Experience working on modular or prefabricated construction projects. -Familiarity with submission processes for zoning reviews and building permits. -Experience producing full construction drawing sets independently. -Knowledge of off-grid, low-impact, or rural construction systems.
